Yesterday I had a question asked of me : “Does hemp help children with ADHD?” I freshened up on my research, and yes, the information I found DOES state that hemp can treat ADHD.
As I’ve stated before, hempseed and hempseed oil have the perfect 3:1 ratio of Omega fatty acids for the human body. The brain itself is composed of fatty acids, and any deficiency in these can result in brain-related conditions (ADHD, Alzheimers, bipolar disorder, depression, etc.).
ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is a disorder that affects both children and adults. Although the EXACT cause is not known, it appears that there are several factors that can can contribute to ADHD, some of which are : heredity, head injury, changes in the brain, and chemical imbalances in the brain.
Imbalances in the brain can happen when there is a ‘short circuit’ in the neurotransmitters; children and adults with ADHD do not have adequate quantities of these transmitters. The Omega fatty acids in hempseeds and hempseed oil help to repair and strengthen the neurotransmitter pathways, and may reduce the symptoms associated with the ADHD.
