Eating To Live Healthy


A couple years ago I had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Joel Fuhrman and speaking with him about eating as a way to improve health and vitality.

He has written several books, one of which is Super Immunity: The Essential Nutrition Guide for Boosting Your Body’s Defenses to Live Longer, Stronger, and Disease Free.

In talking with him, I learned that proper nutrition is the way to maintain health, as well as reverse disease and promote weight loss.  Macro nutrients and micro nutrients are critical in maintaining healthy cells and organ and body functions. They also help boost the immune system, preventing disease and illness.

Eating well is a way of life. It takes conscious effort to think about and prepare what we put into our bodies. It’s about choice.

Dr. Fuhrman reminded me that every cell in our bodies needs proper nourishment – when we do this, our body systems work at an optimum level. Poor dietary choices (highly processed foods, fast foods, and insufficient fresh fruits, vegetables, and beans/legumes) make way for colds, illness, disease, and weakness.

Dr. Fuhrman also told me that he has people in their 70s and 80s choosing to eat better, to eat in the “nutritarian style” and they are going completely off their prescribed medications – living longer, healthier, and more actively. This, combined with low impact exercise, is giving people more years to their lives – and more mental clarity and energy.
